The idea for this CD came into being in 1999. The interpretation of songs (and most of all, the Schumann Liederkreis Opus 24) with the double bass represented a challenge. I broke off initial recordings because the results were not measuring up to my intentions. The sound of the instrument was not free and "singing" enough. This led to the idea of tuning the double bass in fifths, and thus to my bassetto project.
