Beijing / Shanghai

In November 2008 I spent three weeks in China at the invitation of Chen Zi Ping, Professor of Double Bass at China Central Conservatory, Beijing. As well as participating as a member of the jury in a national Double Bass competition,
I gave masterclasses for students of the Conser- vatory and also taught in Shanghai for a few days as the guest of Prof. Chao Hui. Of course artistic concerns took precedence. However there was also an opportunity to get to know the country and its people a little, to gain some insight into its culture and, most especially, to enjoy the simply amazing diversity of Chinese cuisine. My heartfelt thanks to my hosts. I hope that this first contact will lead to a lively exchange.
